This image was used as the cover for the Bather's book that showcased a selection of works from the series.

In the summer of 2025, I became enamored with a series of drawings by DaVinci all titled Deluge.  I loved the idea of making storms in my artworks and this became the basis for a series of works based on the idea of natural disasters.  It also is a reference to the political climate of the time.

Imaginary Botanicals I, 2004
11”x12.5” image size w/ 1" border, signed (lr) editioned to 100.

The Imaginary Botanical series of artworks was started the day after 9/11.  It was my way of bringing joy in the face of grief. What I like most about this image is how the colors and movement of the picture makes most people smile.

Aside from the imagined plants, I was also thinking about how people might imagine them smelling - which is why I made the space around them so colorful and active.

In this artwork, I was continuing to pursue invented botanicals but also found a way to incorporate a hidden figure. The figure comes from Boucher's Ms. O'Murphy (1752).  This artwork was reproduced on the cover for the October 2008 issue of Art Matter.

Sentinel I, 2021
11”x 16”image size w/ 1" border, signed (lr) editioned to 100.

The Sentinels is a series of pictures that started at the beginning of the pandemic. At that time, I felt like everyone was looking for a little bit of security, a little bit of extra protection. So I made these soldiers (each holding their own large spear and standing at attention) to act as guardians and to watch out for those who own them.

SPECIAL EDITION of 10

The large original painting of this artwork was exhibited at the ArtShow exhibition (summer, 2025) at the Hicks Art Gallery. Here, two figures are about to be overcome by the deluge that's just starting to wash over them. The figures are painted white to imply that they may be made of marble - which would keep them from escaping the impending storm.
